Carolyn Carlson Anselm Kiefer

Improvised choreographic event within Anselm Kiefer's installation at the 2007 Monumenta exhibition

At Anselm Kiefer's invitation, Carolyn Carlson devised a free dance interpretation of the artist's work. The performance played on the relationship between the dancers' bodies and Kiefer's monumental sculptures, and on the energy of passion.

Featuring bodies moving in and around the stranded concrete structures of Kiefer's installation, this choreographic object poetically and concretely represented the being's relationship both with the world and with time.
