Sonia Rocha studied dance between 1982 and 1992 at the Academy of Contemporary Dance in Setubal, Portugal. She then worked in the following companies: CeDeCe (Portugal), Reflex Dance Company (Netherlands), Basel Theatre (Switzerland) and Lucerne Theatre (Switzerland). In August 1999, she was named "Exceptional Young Dancer" by Wiebke Hüster in Ballettanz. She has been invited to dance in numerous productions in Indonesia, Argentina, Switzerland and Germany (at Bern Stadttheater and Stuttgart Opera). She has choreographed for CeDeCe, the Zurich Theatre dance school and the Augsburg Ballet. She performs in Inanna by Carolyn Carlson, a work for seven women premiered in 2005.
Sonia Rocha has founded her own company, Glasstone Productions, with her husband, Roman Glaser, who is a musician and a composer. They produced Das Erbe and Biographies of Wannabes. Biographies of wannabes was premiered at the National Choreographic Centre Roubaix Nord-Pas de Calais in April 2008.
She is also a dancer in eau, Carolyn Carlson's new work which premiered at Lille Opera in April 2008.
