Swan Lake, from Petipa to today: the essential elements and many guises of the work

Technique classes and workshops linked to the repertoire
classical | contemporary | character

This course based on Marius Petipa’s Swan Lake explores the ballet’s contemporary impact by looking at adaptations by Matthew Bourne, Mats Ek and others. Taking a modern approach, it addresses the piece’s fundamental features, including duality, fluid arm movement, dancing on points, creating patterns on the floor, and animality. It considers how a universal work belonging to our cultural heritage continues to feed, stimulate and arouse creativity in young artists.
