L'école
The National Choreographic Centre School offers both an amateur and a pre-professional dance curriculum focusing principally on classical and contemporary dance. The School offers courses for 4 to 20 year olds. The curriculum puts emphasis on raising children's and young adults' awareness of other dance forms. The School organises early-learning and introductory dance courses for 4 to 7 year olds. A team of qualified teachers with varied careers contributes to the cross-disciplinarity of the education and subjects on offer. The School provides students with an unusual working environment in four huge light and modern studios on a floor measuring 1,600 m² in the renovated Roussel warehouse. Learning in close proximity to the professional dancers of the Carolyn Carlson Company and within the dance centre of Roubaix creates a motivating artistic environment. Pupils experience dancing on stage by performing shows at Le Colisée theatre. They also watch all the performances put on by the National Choreographic Centre. To enable pupils to follow their regular schooling with flexible timetables, agreements have been made between the School and two secondary schools in Roubaix: the Collège Madame de Sévigné and the Lycée Van Der Meersch. Boarding is also available at the Lycée.
